My brother and I finished sinking our drum over the past weekend, then went on to smooth it and etch notes in. Tensioning and the like seemed to be going well, we did have 2 minor splits while grooving. The notes are there and it looks like steel drum (I use that loosely given this is our first try). The sound of the notes are defenitely, well....different. I'm not exactly sure how to try and get the notes into the range we would like. It's like shooting at a fly from a mile away....Anyway, that's an update on how the panmaking is going so far....
